Location: The City of Powell River is located on Highway 101 on the Sunshine Coast of BC, and can be reached from Vancouver in the south (5 hours, 141 km/ 88 miles) by catching a ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale, driving from Langdale to Earls Cove on Highway 101, and catching another ferry from Earls Cove to Saltery Bay and the Upper Sunshine Coast.

By Car - From Vancouver you can take a beautiful scenic drive up the Sunshine Coast to get to Powell River. A short drive north from Vancouver lets you catch the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale. The 40 minute ferry provides the opportunity to see Howe Sound, Bowen, Gambier and Keats. From there you will continue driving up the coast to catch the second ferry from Earl’s Cove to Saltery Bay. This ferry takes 50 minutes and provides a great view of Jervis Inlet, Frail Falls and the Coast Mountains. From Saltery Bay you will follow the road north until it reaches Powell River or until it ends in Lund. The trip from downtown Vancouver to the end of Highway 101 in Lund takes about six hours. Coming from Vancouver Island you will take the ferry at Little River in Comox. The passage takes one hour and 15 minutes, and the ferry docks in the heart of Powell River. By Inter-City Bus – Malaspina Coach Lines leave Vancouver (airport or downtown) daily. The trip takes about the same route/time as driving. The bus leaves from The Town Centre Hotel daily. Phone 1-877-227-8287 www.malaspinacoach.com

By Commercial Airline – For those looking to get here faster Pacific Coastal Airlines flies 5 to 7 flights daily from the South Terminal at Vancouver Airport to the Powell River Municipal Airport. Accessible Transit on the Low-floor Bus - Powell River Transit’s low-floor and kneeling buses are equipped to carry two wheelchairs or one scooter at once. For passengers who have difficulty with stairs, the front of the bus can be lowered to within 25 cm (9.8 in) of the road surface (or about 10 cm from the sidewalk).
